The author was born in Manchester in 1890, and he sailed on his first voyage two months before his fifteenth birthday. He served four years apprenticeship in the full-rigged ships Main and Arno. This book covers his first three years on the Main, giving an absorbing, authentic account of hardship, courage and expert seamanship. In very good condition
