Lounge Set ss Nieuw Zeeland designed by the well known artist and designer Lion Cachet

History.This loungeset is designed for the in 1928 built ss Nieuw Zeeland. She was built by Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij for the Koninklijke Paketvaart Maatschappij. This ship, and her sistership ss. Nieuw Holland, were very luxueus liners for the service between Australia and Asia. In 1940 the ship was refitted in Singapore and overhanded to the British Royal Navy. She became a troopship with Dutch crew. The ship was in 1942 torpedood in the Mediterranean Sea by the German U-Boat 407. Although the most people could save their lives 15 persons were killed. This Loungeset is in mint condition. In the book about Lion Cachet there is a photo with the chairs onboard the ss. Nieuw Zeeland. The book is included with the buy of the set. No sendingcosts in The Netherlands.
